Objective sleep assessment, tailored advice

From life-changing injuries to sleep apnoea and long-standing sleep problems – evidence-based assessments that lead to real change.

Actigraphy assessments

Assessments for people who’ve had life-changing injuries

Sleep Unlimited offer assessments to individuals – or alongside partners, parents and carers – to explore aspects of activity, sleep, rest and exercise.

The advice from the assessment is tailored to the individual and based on NICE recommended guidelines on how to treat sleep problems (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for insomnia).

We use actigraphy for the assessment – a watch-like device worn for two weeks, which is non-invasive and collects objective data in the client’s own place of residence.

Apnoea diagnosis

Sleep Disordered Breathing (Sleep Apnoea)

Sleep Apnoea occurs when someone’s breathing is interrupted during their sleep, often resulting in blood saturation falling and pulse rising. In extreme cases, the individual can stop breathing for up to a minute, causing multiple micro-arousals per hour. The person is unaware that they have woken up, and can be confused as to why they feel so tired.

There are different types of Sleep Apnoea and different treatment options – but with treatment, the individual can reclaim restorative, deep sleep and feel more motivated, less confused and able to function again.

Chronic, untreated Sleep Apnoea can cause significant increases in morbidity and mortality, often leading to hypertension and a number of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases.

If you are concerned, please see your GP or contact us for an information pack. Our blog on the resources page takes a more in-depth look at Sleep Apnoea and includes the free STOP-BANG screening questionnaire.

iSleep™ assessments · for individuals

The first step on the journey to better sleep

iSleep assessments are available for individuals and are appropriate if you have issues with your sleep for 3 or more nights a week, and this has been going on for longer than 3 months.

Step 01

Detailed online assessment

We gather everything we need about your sleep, your daily and weekly routine, any medication you take and the impact your sleep issues have on your life. It takes around 30 minutes and is treated in the strictest confidence.

Step 02

Your iSleep workbook

A member of our clinical team analyses your assessment to pinpoint the problem areas. You then receive your iSleep workbook, with a short report on our findings and relevant, tailored advice.

Step 03

Two consultations with a Doctor

Two half-hour consultations with one of our Doctors to go through the findings with you, support you further and talk about onward referral if indicated.

Your report may include

Guidance on seeking medical advice, if an underlying health condition is suspected

Sources of further information

Details of any other treatments or services we feel may help you

For most clients

Many of our clients are able to improve their sleep with the right support and advice from their personalised iSleep workbook.

For some clients

Some clients with more complex and deep-rooted problems may need further specialist treatment – for example where there’s an underlying medical problem, or when someone needs support in another area of their life, such as high levels of stress or emotional difficulties.
